Abstract

In this experiment,a waterborne cable fire retardant coating was developed. The effects of film forming type, film content, ammonium polyphosphate type, pentaerythritol type and reinforcing filler on the performance of waterborne cable fire retardant coatings were investigated. The results showed that:1)Acrylic emulsion has better brine resistance than EVA emulsion. The elastic emulsion has excellent adhesion and flexibility.2)When the emulsion content is high, the content of organic components is high and the fire resistance of the coating is poor, but the physical and chemical properties of the coating are better. The optimum emulsion content is 30%.3)Low polymerization degree ammonium polyphosphate can affect the storage stability of the emulsion, and the flame retardant properties of the coated ammonium polyphosphate are excellent and the brine resistance is good.4)Dipentaerythritol has excellent salt water resistance because of its higher degree of polymerization.5)Titanium dioxide, aluminum hydroxide and mineral fiber can improve the strength of the expanded carbon layer, reduce the carbonation rate and improve the flame retardancy.
