Research on Balsa Wood Powder in Weight Reduction of Polyurethane Elastomer

Abstract

In order to improve the energy efficiency of ship transportation and reduce the weight of ships.In this work,a lightweight,solvent-free,environmentally friendly polyurethane elastomer coating was developed.It was prepared from TDI-based polyurethane prepolymers,polyether polyols,and balsa wood powder.It can be used for interior floors of aircraft and ships that have low areal density requirements for the coating.The microhardness and bonding strength of the polyurethane elastomer were studied by the hardness tester and the tensile measurement.The effects of balsa wood powder and polyether polyol on the properties of the polyurethane elastomer and the surface density of the coating were studied,respectively.The results show that the addition amount of balsa wood powder is 25%and the addition amount of chain extender is 12%,the comprehensive performance of polyurethane elastomer is the best.
