Abstract

For achieving greenhouse gas(GHG)emission reduction strategies for maritime transport,EEXI and CII have been utilized as short-term targets,and then kinds of energy efficiency technologies are innovated.In this paper,hydrogel silicone-based antifouling coating Hempaguard was used as an energy efficiency technology on a real bulk carrier,and then EEXI and CII were analysed under reducing power limit of main engine.The results showed that reference speed was increased obviously during sea trial and EEXI&CII values was optimized,comparing with the marketing self-polishing coatings.The silicone-based antifouling coatings can be regarded as an effective solution for increasing energy efficiency.
